SHINO WARE 志野焼
Shino ware is produced mainly in the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture and is one of the oldest styles of Japanese pottery, dating back to the late 16th century. It is distinguished by its thick white glaze with a soft, milky texture and subtle crackles, often accented with gentle iron brushwork beneath the surface. The unique firing process creates natural variations in color, from ivory and pale pink to warm orange tones. Cherished for its rustic beauty and serene atmosphere, Shino ware reflects the wabi-sabi aesthetic—finding elegance in imperfection and simplicity—making it a cherished choice for tea ceremonies and daily use alike.
